WASHINGTON — First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, firmly rejected any involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein case on Thursday, stating from the White House that the accusations circulating about her are “completely false” and amount to “smears.”
In an unusual public statement, she denounced what she described as “lies” linking her to the disgraced financier accused of orchestrating a large-scale sexual exploitation network. “The individuals spreading these allegations are devoid of ethical standards, humility, and respect,” she said, dismissing what she called malicious attempts to damage her reputation.
Melania Trump insisted that she had no relationship with Jeffrey Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, while acknowledging that they moved in overlapping social circles in New York and Florida. She also referred to an email exchange with Maxwell, describing it as “casual correspondence” without any particular significance.
“My polite reply to her email doesn’t amount to anything more than a trifle,” she said.
The First Lady also urged Congress to hold public hearings centered on survivors of Epstein’s crimes, allowing them to testify and have their accounts formally entered into the congressional record. “Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes. Then, and only then, we will have the truth,” she stated.
Her remarks come at a time when President Donald Trump and his administration had appeared to be moving past the Epstein controversy after months of political fallout. Media attention had recently shifted toward other major issues, including international tensions and the war in Iran.
However, the First Lady’s statement could bring the Epstein case back into the political spotlight.
