Iran – USA deal : The Bürgenstock without Israel.

This Sunday, at Bürgenstock, on the shores of Lake Lucerne, talks are opening between Washington and Tehran. Around the table are JD Vance for the Americans, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Abbas Araghchi for Iran, with Qatar and Pakistan acting as mediators.

Yet one absence stands out more than all the presences. Israel, the architect and main driver of this war since February 28, has not been invited.

One Source, One Narrative

Because this absence reveals a much broader imbalance. A single source is telling the story of this war: the Israeli army. No one verifies it, but everyone repeats it. From the triumphant statements about the end of the “axis of evil” to the fifty projectiles fired yesterday, Saturday, by Hezbollah, the narrative is collapsing under its own weight.

A Strike, No One Responsible

The Washington Post has just provided an absurd illustration of this. On March 13, a strike destroyed seven buildings in the Javadieh district, south of Tehran. No official casualty report exists. The U.S. Central Command has not responded. The Israeli army says it has found no trace of it in its archives. Yet the most comprehensive report, published on May 18 by the NGO Human Rights Activists in Iran, records 1,701 civilians killed between February 28 and April 8, including 307 children, out of 6,374 documented incidents.

Forty-four percent of the strikes hit the single province of Tehran, where military facilities and residential areas exist side by side. Two of the main satellite imagery providers restricted access to Middle East images starting in March. The blackout is therefore not a collateral effect. It is intentional.

The Fog and the Dissident Voice

In this fog, social networks create a parallel reality that erases and covers up images from the ground, including those showing the 108 Iranian schools and 50 hospitals destroyed, and particularly the 262 journalists killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

And it is in this organized silence that a voice emerges from the opposing camp — the very one that was never supposed to have doubts.

Tucker Carlson, a prominent MAGA figure, breaks with Trump over the Iranian war. Speaking to Channel 13, he declares that Israel has “definitively lost its morality” and that “no country has claimed the killing of its political opponents more than Israel.” He adds that Netanyahu dragged Trump into a war that harms the United States, despite Trump being someone he previously considered “much weaker than he thought.”

This is not the voice of a pacifist activist. It is the shift of an American public opinion tired of foreign wars — and this one worries them more than all the others.

Sabotaging Peace

And it is this shift in American opinion that alarms Israel and its allies more than the Iranian strikes themselves. Because while Washington and Tehran negotiate at Bürgenstock, the Israeli government, its security apparatus, and its proxies vow to prevent any regional peace agreement from succeeding.

This determination is explained by a researcher from the Geneva Geostrategic Observatory, who stated it bluntly to RTS. Since February 28, Netanyahu has pursued a single objective: weakening the Islamic Republic and its allies.

The strikes of recent days are part of this same continuity. They are not a mistake or an escalation gone wrong. They are the method.
