Kaspersky has played a significant role in supporting one of the largest coordinated cybercrime operations ever conducted in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Through its threat intelligence capabilities, the cybersecurity company contributed to Operation Ramz, an INTERPOL-led initiative that resulted in 201 arrests and the identification of 382 additional suspects linked to cybercrime activities.
Conducted between October 2025 and February 2026, Operation Ramz brought together law enforcement agencies from 13 countries across the MENA region to combat a growing wave of phishing attacks, malware campaigns, and online scams. The operation targeted cybercriminal infrastructures that had affected nearly 4,000 victims across the region.
As part of its contribution, Kaspersky’s Threat Research team provided technical intelligence on regional cyber threats and malicious infrastructure. The company supplied detailed information related to malware distribution channels and command-and-control (C&C) servers used by cybercriminals to manage and execute attacks. This intelligence enabled authorities to identify, track, and dismantle cybercriminal operations more effectively.
Operation Ramz represented a major milestone for INTERPOL as the first cybercrime initiative of such scale in the MENA region. During the operation, almost 8,000 intelligence reports and critical pieces of information were shared among participating countries to support ongoing investigations and coordinated actions.
Neal Jetton, INTERPOL’s Director of Cybercrime, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating digital threats. He noted that cybercriminals increasingly operate across borders and exploit the interconnected nature of the digital landscape. According to him, the success of Operation Ramz demonstrates the value of strong partnerships between international organizations, national authorities, and private sector experts.
Kaspersky also highlighted the importance of collaboration in modern cybersecurity efforts. Yuliya Shlychkova, Vice President of Global Public Affairs at Kaspersky, stated that the operation showcased how intelligence sharing between public institutions and private cybersecurity specialists can effectively disrupt sophisticated criminal networks. She stressed that providing timely and reliable threat intelligence allows investigators to respond quickly and better protect users and organizations.
Several participating countries reported significant achievements during the operation:
- Qatar successfully identified compromised devices through intelligence obtained during Operation Ramz and secured affected systems while notifying users.
- Jordan dismantled a financial fraud network that deceived victims through fake investment platforms. Authorities arrested two suspected organizers and uncovered a group of 15 individuals involved in the scheme.
- Oman located and disabled a server operating from a private residence that contained sensitive information.
- Algeria identified and dismantled a phishing-as-a-service platform. Authorities seized servers, computers, mobile devices, and storage systems containing phishing tools and scripts, while one suspect was arrested.
- Morocco confiscated digital equipment containing banking information and phishing software, leading to judicial proceedings against several suspects.
Kaspersky has long advocated for stronger cooperation between cybersecurity companies and law enforcement agencies. Through its Threat Intelligence division, the company currently tracks more than 300 threat actors and monitors over 500 malicious campaigns worldwide.
As cyber threats continue to evolve and become increasingly sophisticated, Operation Ramz highlights how coordinated international action and intelligence sharing can play a critical role in strengthening digital security and protecting users across borders.
