Louisiana Lawmakers Call for Full Release of all remaining Epstein documents

L’affaire n’est pas close. Elle demeure un véritable test pour la transparence de la justice et sa capacité à demander des comptes aux puissants, quels que soient leur statut et leur influence.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers in Louisiana is urging the federal government to release all remaining documents connected to the investigations of convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

According to News From The States, the Louisiana Senate unanimously approved Senate Concurrent Resolution 30 on Monday. The measure was introduced by Patrick Connick, a Republican from Marrero, along with 18 co-authors from both political parties. The resolution will now move to the House for consideration.

The resolution does not have the authority to force action by the federal government, but it formally calls on the U.S. Congress to pressure the United States Department of Justice to release the remaining Epstein-related files.

Lawmakers argue that the unreleased documents may contain information involving alleged crimes such as child sex trafficking, rape, blackmail, bribery, and the involvement of prominent individuals, including politicians, celebrities, royalty, and wealthy figures.

The Senate’s vote came one day before survivors connected to Epstein’s trafficking network were scheduled to testify during a meeting organized by Democrats on the United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

The resolution also urges Congress to ensure that “all individuals implicated in the Epstein files are fully disclosed, investigated, prosecuted, and charged through every available legal process.”

In November, Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which required President Donald Trump to direct the Justice Department to release the files. According to U.S. Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna, the Federal Bureau of Investigation collected more than six million pages of documents during its investigation into Epstein and Maxwell. However, only around 3.5 million pages have reportedly been released so far, many of them heavily redacted.

Speaking by phone on Monday, Connick said the purpose of the resolution was to send a public message that the Epstein investigation should continue and that those responsible must still be held accountable.

“We have world leaders who participated in this type of activity, and they need to be exposed,” Connick said. “There’s a lot of evil that needs to be called out.”
