Have you found any new friends that are inappropriate for me? (Prince Andrew to Maxwell)

Newly released documents connected to the case of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein include an email believed by some observers to have been sent by Prince Andrew to Ghislaine Maxwell in 2001.

The message, included among roughly 30,000 pages of files released by the United States Department of Justice, was reportedly sent from someone signing as “A” while staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, the summer residence of the British royal family.

In the email, the writer asked Maxwell whether she had found him “new inappropriate friends” and suggested taking a trip somewhere “hot and sunny” with “fun people.” Maxwell replied jokingly that she had only been able to find “appropriate friends.”

Another message from the same sender mentioned personal upheaval, including the death of a long-time valet and changes in his professional life, including leaving the Royal Navy.

The documents also contain a 2002 email forwarded by Maxwell indicating that “Andrew” was interested in visiting the famous Nazca Lines in Peru and suggesting social introductions during the trip.

While the identity of the sender labeled “A” is not confirmed in the documents, the correspondence has renewed attention on Prince Andrew’s past relationship with Epstein. The British royal previously stepped back from public duties following controversies related to his association with the disgraced financier.
